A useful hardware feature is a second, higher speed graphic processor available on the MacBook Pro models. You can choose to activate it through System Preferences/Energy Saver/Higher Performance. Capture One is somewhat sluggish with-out its help on my October '08, 15" MacBook Pro.

The video card is necessary to power an external monitor(s). I'm not sure what a "good" specification is for video output.

I would opt for a 15" model if it's in your budget. The larger screen size is a plus.

Love your response. "Go big or go home." It really did make me laugh out loud.

The size is not really a budget thing but rather a travel convenience item. When at home I have a pretty decent twin screen set up for photo editing, but on the road, I want a laptop I can use with both the Phase One camera and also the Cambo WDS I use. So wanted a more compact unit - but being new to Apple and not really a veruy knowledgable computer person, thought I would get some peer advice.

    Thanks for everone's help.

    Hi Mal,
    I'm glad you laughed !!
The best choice is the one that fits in your backpack! Just load it up with Ram & SSD's.

    Have fun in travels...

I'll chime in a bit here.... What ever size you go, get 8GB Ram, SSD, and the best i7 processor on the list. The video card won't make a huge difference for C1, but the processor and SSD will absolutely be noticeable.
