Corrupted 5D files

Any idea what happened?:

Some days ago we took several shooting sessions with tethered 5D and C1 Pro in different folders and then moved them to dvd:s so that there were 2-3 folders in each dvd. After that I noticed that one of the folders contains all unreadable files.

First I though that it was just some dvd directory writing error, but then found that all the .cr2 files exists there, they are in about right size, can be copied or moved to another location... but can't be read by C1 or Photoshop.

My assistant said that she she checked those files in C1 during shooting session and there were absolutely no problem, but now after moving them to dvd they are somehow corrupted. The other folder in the same disk is ok, so I just wonder what caused this and what happened...

All I can offer is:

It is possible you have a RAM memory issue, test this by downloading Memtest86.exe
from http://www.memtest86.com/

It may be the way files are handled by your DVD Burning program as well.

The FW or USB cable could be problem if DVD drive is external.

Let us know if the mystery is solved...

memtest86 is a bit out of date. I recommend its replacement, memtest86+, from http://www.memtest.org/. It's based on the original but has many fixes and improvements.
