Move image between catalogues?
I'm sure this has got to be easy to do, but I cannot find out how. ☹️
I've created a few different catalogues for different applications, but now I want to move some of the images from one to another. I can easily re-import the images (which are all referenced in location rather than managed in the catalogue), but then I don't have any of the settings, adjustments and keyword information.
How can I move images from one catalogue to another preserving the work I've done on them and without ending up with duplicate image files? I've found I can copy settings between images in different catalogues, but only one image at a time - which won't work for moving lots of images.
Thanks
David.

I haven't tested this but maybe.... you can export the images with xmp sidecars and then re-import in to the desired catalog. The Metadata will come across but I'm not too sure about the edits. 0 -
Thanks you're right it works for metadata but not the adjustments.
I have found a fiddly way that works:
in the first catalogue export original images located in a single folder on disk to a temporary location on disk
move the folder with the settings from the temporary location to the original folder where the images are located
delete the exported images to clean up
in the second catalogue import the images in the original location making sure read settings is ticked
in the first catalogue the images can now be deleted (but only from the catalogue)
Fiddly but it does work for sets of images stored in the same directory on disk.
I'm sure there's got to be a better way - am I the first person who wants to move images from one catalogue to another? Unfortunately I find very large catalogues sluggish in C1P, and since there is no real need for all images to be in one massive catalogue I'd really like to split it up.
Thanks

I certainly dont think your alone.
This is a gapping hole in the C1 catalog workflow. you can import sessions and catalogs, why cant you export sessions or catalogs? This means your locked into C1, and it's pretty inefficient should you wish to alter your catalog structure.
I'm hoping that this is just as were on a rev 1 catalog, and this functionality will be added in time. not too far away if i'm being optimistic.0 -
The easiest way to spilt it up might be to make multiple copies of the large catalog and then open them one by one and delete sections of images you don't want.
LR store the edits in XMP too which is very useful. It can export / import partial catalogs anyway so you need to mess about too much.0
