Is it possible to copy/transfer catalog settings?
I imported images into a catalog, made adjustments, star ratings, etc then re-imported the images into a different catalog (leaving the images in the same hard drive location). I now need to transfer all the adjustments and ratings data in that original image folder to the new image folder located in the new catalog. Is that possible?
Example:
TEMPORARY Photos Catalog
-Cool Photo Shoot 3-27-2014 <-----This data
Transver to:
PERMANENT Photos Catalog
-Cool Photo Shoot 3-27-2014 <-----This new location.

TEMPORARY Photos Catalog
-Cool Photo Shoot 3-27-2014 <-----This data

PERMANENT Photos Catalog

Just shutdown CO and copy the catalog, no need to import them all again. 0 -
That would just overwrite the entire destination catalog therefore deleting all the other previous photo files. I'm asking how to copy or transfer data from just one image folder within a catalog to another image folder in another catalog. 0 -
With CO7's catalog, the adjustments related to a particular image, or folder of images, is/are not linked to that folder anymore. That is, from a user's perspective, on the folder level.
Adjustments are stored in a database that is the core of the catalog. And of course, inside that database, linking is established between the folder location of an image and the adjustment.
You can not copy adjustments for images in a folder from one catalog into another, just like you could with sessions.
I recently made some notes on image transfer between catalogs. You might want to look into it.

Thanks Paul, that answers that. I was used to doing this task with sessions by shooting to a session in the field and then upon returning to the main work desk importing from that session to a catalog with the "Use previous adjustments" selected. I just wondered if there was a way to do the same within a catalog.
I'll use sessions from now on when I need a temporary data storage.
