CO slow at rendering referenced images while browsing
I'm finding Capture One very slow at rendering referenced images while browsing. Admittedly, my referenced images are archived on a SAN and I'm accessing them via Wi-Fi, but I thought the point of previews was that CO could use them instead of building an image from the full size reference, especially when browsing (I thought that the original was really only called when processing / exporting - hence the ability to take a catalog 'on the road').
If I eject the external drive, things speed up to what I would expect - with CO using the previews to very quickly generate images on the fly. Re-attaching to the external drive and things start to slow down again.
Am I missing a setting somewhere? I've checked preferences, and nothing is obvious.

Are the previews generated already? What size have you set in Preferences for the previews and what is your screen size? 0 -

Paul,
Working with an external drive is always likely to be somewhat slower compared to expectations for an internal drive. How much slower will depend on several factors.
As far as I am aware what you have discovered is exactly what C1 is intended to do. If access to the original file is available C1 will use it's full processing feature set. If not it allows some edits to be applied (based on using the preview in the catalog) if the original file is off-line. Useful up to a point although how much you can really do will largely depend on how big the preview is and what your intended output use will be for the image.
HTH.

Thanks guys. Grant - yes - your response appears to explain what I'm seeing.
It seems ejecting the external drive is at least an option for rapid organising and rating.
Thanks again,
