batch renaming not including extension
can someone please advise me on my issue :
I am trying to do a batch rename of sony raw files.
In the older versions of CO, the extensions were automatically carried into the new naming but doesn't seem to be the case with the latest versions 9.x.
so basically I get this message:
"You have specifed that the existing file extensions should be replaced but the new names do not include an appropriate extension.
Do you want to proceed anyway?"
..and there doest not seem to be a token for extensions or anything mentioning "keeping the original extension"
..if I continue the process, the extension is lost and CO can no longer read the raw files.
any ideas?
thanks !

yes, that option is checked.
toggling it on and off doesn't affect the sample name file (showing the extension or not)0 -
okay, I just made a test session with some file so to figure this out.
it seems that if the option to "include extension" is UN-CHECKed (sample preview not showing extension)..then the batch rename will work properly with the extensions intact.
prehaps I'm missing something in the check / uncheck logic... 🤓0 -

Yeah - you're overthinking it a bit.
"Include extension" means that the extensions WILL be updated based on the rename sequence you are setting - so if you check the include extension option, you need to specify what the new extension will be. Leaving it unchecked means that the extension gets ignored during the bulk rename.
Which is to say, leaving the box unchecked is how it should be in order to get the function to use the original renaming behavior.0
