'Edit with' followed by 'Export Variant' loses metadata

I have found that if I use the 'Edit with' round trip option in C1 9.2.1 and then use 'Export Variant' on the resulting TIF file, the exported JPG has lost all of the original metedata.
Is this normal?

  Does the TIFF file have the Metadata you want when it comes back from the "Edit with" trip?

  What happens if you use Process instead of Export?

  I need to investigate further since I have discovered that this does not happen to all TIFF files.
