MP 1.4.1 and COP7: rendering RX100M2 .ARW
I've recently upgraded COP6 to COP7 and am pleased that it handles the .ARW raw files from my new Sony RX100M2. The same cannot be said of MP 1.4.1 though ☹️
MP refuses to show previews and full media views of .ARW files when the PhaseOne engine is selected for rendering. So I installed the raw WIC handler from Sony and that went on fine - after a restart I see all raw files are now shown as thumbnails in folder views. But will MP render them? No. I can switch between PhaseOne and WIC with the same disappointing result. It's very odd that the WIC doesn't work when Nikon's equivalent does in MP.
It's about time MP was updated. I see that it has its own rendering engine which is at COP 7.1.2 level (why can't it use the same one as COP if there's one present?) but RX100M2 support was provided from v7.1.4. We're now on v7.1.6. The rendering engines really ought to be synchronised, since they seemingly have to be discrete. That said, does anyone have an idea as to why I can't get the Sony WIC to work in MP?

At the risk of stating the obvious, did you try to rebuild the thumbnails after you'd switched rendering engines?
Other than that, i wouldn't know.0 -
I did - but thanks for the response anyway. Aside from the fact that the MP PhaseOne engine is not in synch with CO, the fact that I've chosen WIC, which enables .ARW thumbnail and image viewing perfectly in native Windows, should mean that the thumbnails should show (after rebuild) and the full media view should work. They don't.
Today I updated COP to v7.2. MP has not changed in many months. Since my original post I have upgraded my Leica M9 to the M Typ 240 and the .DNGs look lovely in COP as the M9 ones do. They look horrible in MP, though, both thumbnail and media views, using the CO rendering engine. I can only assume that it's because the engine in MP is too back-level so that MP doesn't fully support .DNGs from the M Typ 240.
This is preventing me from cataloguing my work properly. 😡
Come on, P1 - release update to MP, please!0
