Preview Resolution Modification

Hi,

I have been using C1 LE for more than a year for my E-1 RAWs and i always appreciate its intutive workflow.

last week i bought Apple 23" cinema display and i found the preview resolution is awfully short. may be i am also corrupted by the big Adobe Lightroom Previews.

Is there an option in C1 LE to increase preview resolution? is it coming in next updates? Pls dont tell me to use Zooms which gives only pixelated image.

    Hello

    In the workflow menu make sure that Preview Enhancement is enabled.
    Preview size is 1/4 of full RAW size so if you Zoom to 400% and beyond the preview enhancement kicks in to give you full resolutions size.

    Thanks for reply.

    But i dont find any "Preview Enhancement " option in Workflow menu.
    I am using C1 LE 3.7.3 version and workflow menu has only 3 sub-menus, "Selected Capture Settings", "All Capture settings", and "Color Mgmt settings".

    I already knew abt 400% zoom that gives full resolution actual view.
    The problem is b/w 100% zoom and 400% zoom.

    In my 23" Apple display, 100% zoom is too small (its something like viewing a thumbnail) and 400% will run out of space in any display. If i adjust the zoom to say around 200% to fit "Preview Window" size, i get only pixelated image and it doesnt help for editing.

    Other RAW converters like Adobe Lightroom doesnt have this problem. Their preview resolution is automatically adjusted and its wonderful to work with.

    I suspect C1 has fixed preview 25% of full resolution to speed up the workflow. But there has to be an option to increase the size when a photographer wants to edit his images thro bigger displays. It must be adjustable.

    Is it possible in current versions? or is it to be included in the upcoming versions?

    Indeed, it is the 25% cached preview files that gives Capture One its speed.

    I believe I saw in the planned feature list for 4.0: full speed processing on full sized images. That will be a welcome feature. While I only run at 1600x1200 there are sometimes when I'm tweaking the settings to get one small part of the image "just right", that the "400%" size would be nice, but it is currently far from the real-time responce that the preview size affords.

    my point is preview resolution (0 to 100%) should have been made as an adjustable option.
    when a photographer wants to work with more detailed, bigger preview and ready to sacrifice bit of speed, it shd be possible. as of now, i think its not possible in PRO version as well.

    i wonder how this is missed out so far and how other big display users managed to cope with it.

    When previews of D200 isnt too bad, Oly E1 files are shown hardly bigger than thumbnails. cropping precisely has become more difficult and its really a strain.

    it will be a big disappointment if Phase One fails to come out with solutions sooner. its a serious flaw to me.

    All critical image analysis should be done using the Focus View found at the Focus tab.
    It has settings of Small - Medium - Large

    The image area displayed within the Focus View is actually processed from the RAW file.
    Therefore, it is the absolute best image area to view for decision-making.

    For easier Cropping, go to View > Show Tool Settings > Mask & Crop and make Lightness and Opacity adjustments, or add Crop frame or grid.
