I will be travelling this week but want to keep working on a project. I intend taking a copy of my images and continuing to work on the raw files. I'm not quite sure how to get my updates back into my master upon my return. The files that I wish to bring back into my master are untouched on the master. All files are external to the catalog.

I think that I can create a new catalog, import the copied images to it and then import the catalog when I return so that I get my adjustments applied to the masters.

    Does this sound right?

Since you have a referenced catalog you can take with you a copy of it and edit while you are travelling (you don't need the raw files to do that).

Thanks Ario. That's great. I just need a copy of my catalog which i then use to replace my catalog when I get home.

    That's great.

    First question...

If I understand this correctly, and to make this work properly, one would not bring along the referenced files that they are working on?

    Second question...

If one has already created a NEW catalog to add NEW photographs to on a shoot, and has made adjustments to them in C1 how would one import those adjustments/files into the main catalog on the machine at home base?

    Thanks for your help.

That is correct. When working with a catalog you can browse and edit your referenced images without being connected to the referenced files. For almost all adjustments the preview inside the catalog is sufficient. Exceptions are LCC generation, analysis of chromatic aberration, and auto mask in layer (note: these limitations apply to CO7, I assume they do in CO8 as well, not tested yet).

You can use CO Pro 8's new features to export a collection to a catalog, and import that new created catalog into your main catalog.
