Corrupted thumbnails and previews
Well I tried reinstalling V5 and now all the thumbnails and previews are showing up like a static screen on the tv. So I uninstalled V5, rebooted, reinstalled V5 and the same thing is happening, corrupted previews. I can delete all the files in the Proxies folder and the settings and the thumbnails look okay for a moment, then as the previews are generated the thumbnails get corrupted. So at this point the program is unusable. Suggestions?
Deleting "Capture One.col50" didn't help.

Run a memory test on your computer. Google memtest. I had the same thing occur a while ago, and it turned out it was bad RAM.

I have the same problem - and i've fround a simple 'solution' (it's not realy one) - you can switch " -> proof Profile -> show all " on and off, and all Previews, and thumbnails are OK again.
But on the next start, you must do this again ☹️
Or simply select a proper Profile - this will help! C1 selects by default an empty space as profile, I think thats the Problem.

I had seen the profile suggestion in a search, but it didn't help in my situation. Thanks though.
Ran MemTest86 v4.00 this morning and it did find errors so I'll have to explore that. Funny though, the program was working when I first installed it, but the scrambled thumbnails and previews started after re-installing and continues after a third re-install. V4.81 is still working fine, even with the previews generated by V5.0. Perhaps V5 is just a more memory hog and is accessing the bad memory areas.
Thanks for your suggestions. I still wonder if it's a bug, but will be getting new memory.0 -
I had this problem in C1 4 as well, but in certain images which I edited with some other software, which modifies the RAW file. I delete cache from CaptureOne folder in each folder with images and it works fine after that. 0 -
Removed the offending memory card, others tested okay, but problem remains the same. 0 -
Another twist, since I'm still using V5 in trial mode, I decided to try starting the standard version, not Pro, and found all the thumbnails and previews to work just fine. 0 -
It's back! I looked around some more and found a file, user.config, under "c:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Phase_One\CaptureOne.exe_Url_0n3w3p5xmg0febceiyaayncoiff0uovg\5.0.33255.0" so I renamed it so V5 wouldn't see it (deleted it). Now all my previews and thumbnails are working.
Now I also had deleted nearly 15,000 task files that I found in the history folder, not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it was taking up nearly 500 MB.
No I can continue the trial, but I lost a few days of the 30 available.0
