Vertical Lines in viewing raw files with capture one 4
Since today I have vertical lines on the picture when I view any raw files with capture one 4. I never had before this problem. Even raw files which look fine in the past actually show these lines. I installed the new update of capture one 4 but the lines were still there. Has anyone an idea or has had that problem? Many Thanks.

Is it on the output as well? If not, I would suspect the monitor profile first and the graphics adapter driver second. 0 -
Thank you Paul. To specify the problem: the stripes do not appear with JPEGs in Capture one and does also not appear with DNGs in Adobes PS4. It only occur with all my DNGs in Capture one. There are so many vertcal lines in the picture that it does not allow me to work with Capture One at the moment. It seems to be a specific issue for the software capture one. Thanks a lot! 0 -
Which version are you using; already updated to CO 4.6? Has it been working properly in the past?
Edit: Just see from the OP it has been working properly in the past.0 -

may be you can upload one of your .DNGs to a public file sharing service like rapidshare.com
that way somebody can download and test your .DNG on his/her C1 setup ?0 -

Which camera are the DNGs from and are they native (direct from camera)? What Windows are you working on? Have you calibrated your monitor and tried an sRGB profile for a change?0 -
Camera is Leica M8. DNGs are native. Windows is Vista. Eizo Monitor is calibrated. Everything worked well until yesterday with Capture One and Vista. The same DNGs which were OK on tuesday had these vertical stripes on wednesday. The vertical lines also appear on new JPEGs of that DNG. On my other PC (Windows XP) Capture One shows no vertical lines with same DNG. It is a miracle since all DNGs of the last years now show these stripes in Capture One on Vista but not in Photoshop PS4 (Vista) and not in Capture One XP. Thank you for any further idea! 0 -
Schneider, getting a better picture now of your setup. Have you recently reinstalled Capture One on your Vista machine? Maybe you might do that and although I don't know which version of CO you are using now, it is a good moment to go to 4.6, if you not already have done so.
I suspect either your Capture One installation or a .NET Framework components has become corrupt since the vertical lines appear both on screen and in output.
Last but not least you could open a support case if you not already done so.0 -
As requested, I send you links to download an example:
the original DNG
the orginal JPEG (no stripes; CO Ver 4.0)
the new JPEG from the original DNG (with stripes; CO Ver 4.6)
Interestingly the contrast of the new JPEG with stripes has changed w/o change of any parameters except the update of CO to Ver. 4.6.
I updated CO to Ver 4.6 few days ago because of the stripes issue. The stripes were also seen on CO Ver 4.0 so the update or a corrupted older version could not be the reason except specific (corrupted) variables of the old version were not be changed during the update. I will follow your advice to reinstalle CO once again.

For your information: Meanwhile I opened a support case and tried some possibilities in solving the problem e.g. changing the apperance of the viewer. Today I have got the hint that eventually an installed Adobe Color Management Module might influence the appearance of the viewer. Although I did not install that Module I deleted as a trial the Profile <Adobe RGB (1998).ICM> in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Phase One\Capture One 4\Color Profiles\Common. Immediately the stripes did not appear any more. However, I made no changes in the color profiles in the past, so I cannot say, HOW that problem arises. But this will not make me any headache furthermore!! Thank you so much for supporting me!!

Roland,
Thanks for the feedback. I knew that the solution was staring me in the face because it has been discussed on the forum before and the solutions each time was removal of the Adobe CMM. Just did not remember it (probably a senior moment?) but fortunately Phase One support did.0
