I think you will find that most people have better experience of Capture One than you have been having. It would be a good idea to contact Phase One support - they will probably be able to help you track down what is causing the problems, because it seems to work well for most people most of the time.

I hope you manage to get it sorted out!

    Santine,

Are the problems ONLY when you use your external drive as the place where the catalogue and original files are stored?

I normally use internal SSD drives (and Sessions not a catalogue) but I have two external USB 3 drives which I can also use - most of the time.

I have noticed that the External drives can sometimes "pause" for extended periods. I am not sure why. C1 does not crash but can appear to become unresponsive for a minute or more.

The drives seem to have a setting that may be "eco" mode and causes them to hibernate. If this happens they can be very slow to respond. Sometimes they fail to respond at all.

In the early days of using the first of the drives I purchased a 3mtr SuperSpeed USB3 cable. The cable seemed to have problems getting a response from the drives if they were in low power mode. Sometime there would be a response. Mostly no response.

USB2 cables always worked - even long ones. But of course much slower.

A 2mtr USB 3 "standard" cable always works. The short cables supplied with the drives always work.

This observation is for a Dell Precision notebook workstation running Win 7 Pro connecting to HGST Touro Pro 4TB drives.

    Second point.

Although your catalog verification may report that it is healthy ther could be a problem that is soomply not expected and so not recognised.

You description of what happens is similar to something I had a few years ago with a session of about 2000 images.

In that case it turned out that one edit file had, somehow, become corrupt in a way that confused the the session database file and produced random problems. I eventually spotted the problem edit and deleted the edit file. That resolved the problem. It was a very obscure error and there was nothing obviously wrong with the edit file when I reviewed it. I think that was in version 7 and I have only seen it once. I suspect that the problem may have been connected to deleting and then re-instating a file in the session.

    Third point.

    Your English is fine!

    I would say perfect.

I hope this helps in some way.

I have a similar problem on Windows 10 with 9.2.1.17. I've reinstalled CaptureOne, turned hardware acceleration on and then off again. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when it crashes. Can't find any instructions anywhere about how to revert to the previous version before 9.2. I'm going to have to go back to Lightroom to meet a deadline I have today. Frustrating.

My C1 for Sony crashed periodically since 9.2 also, but after this recent update of Windows 10, now C1 is frozen upon opening. I have to close it with ctrl/alt/del.

Further to my previous post about 9.2.1.17 crashing 'randomly' under Windows 10, I had this response from the support people.

"We are contacting you because you submitted a crash report and included your email address.
It has come to our attention that the type of crash you have experienced might be related to a problem between “Capture One†and the software “PlaysTv†or “Raptrâ€.
“PlaysTv†and “Raptr†are sometimes installed with AMD drivers so you might not be aware that the software is installed on your computer.

Unfortunately we currently have no other solution than to uninstall “PlaysTv†and “Raptr†and restart to avoid the problem."

I have uninstalled the two suggested programmes and that seems to have resolved the problem. Hope this information is helpful to someone else.

It is and if I did not happen to stumble on this post, I would be exchanging my brand new Dell I7 laptop with the AMD R% M335 graphics card for something that would work.

When I got my new laptop, I also upgraded to the Cap One Pro 9 for Sony. That action did not sit well with my computer. Cap One would not work at all. Tech Support said there was a conflict between the graphics card by AMD and the built in graphics of the Intel HD520 on the I& CPU. I tried everything from disabling the AMD card to downloading a script from Cap One to kill open CL. Nothing worked until I saw your post. I took out the two items, Raptr and Plays TV and from then on Version 8.5.3 works. I still can't use Version 9 as my card is not supported.

    Thank you.
