Sync Media Pro Catalog on Multiple Machines?

Is there a best practice for using the same Media Pro catalog on both a desktop and a laptop (not simultaneously)?

I was trying to do this by storing my Media Pro SE catalog on a Synology NAS. Unfortunately, this doesn't work well and the catalog frequently gets corrupted. It's then miserable to have to rebuild the catalog.

I'd like to be able to store the Media Pro catalog locally and reference original files over the network. However, because I use both a laptop and desktop, I need a way to keep the catalog in sync. I am on a Mac.

A couple of options:

1. Use something like Dropbox or Chronosync to keep the two in sync. I'm not sure if this works reliably, but it would be the ideal setup.

2. Run some kind of script that would clone the catalog every night (or something like that).

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of setup?

  Yes you can. All you need to do is copy the catalog file to the other computer. The Media Pro catalog is self contained (database, thumbnails, previews, etc).
  
  There is no way to do an incremental update though. If you use something like Chronosync it needs to copy the whole catalog over.

  Yes and no. He can user software like "Syncovery", Media Pro catalog is "block oriented" file, like Adobe DNG format. Syncovery can sync only changed file blocks. This works often but not always ☹️, but catalog file is sty intact.

  Thanks, Robert & Robert for your replies! Is it safe to assume that whatever sync service is used (Chronosync, etc) would negotiate the potential for incremental updating? Meaning the sync service would be able to determine whether the Media Pro catalog can be incrementally updated or not, and I do not have to manually force it one way or the other?

  Hi Mathew,
  I can tell you only how it works with Syncovery.
  
  - Yes Syncovery shows an calculate if there is a Sync of some File-Blocks possible or not. If not then the software will "copy" complete catalog to another site
  - But - its not possible to change your catalog on both computers at the same time!!!
