C1 9.3 CPU Usage Problem

Honestly, what you describe is basically just how a computer works. You open a file, the CPU does a bunch of work, and then you can move along.

Typically C1 makes preview images as part of the import process (you can specify the size of the preview in the preferences).

It sounds like C1 is making the preview when you are first looking at the raw file though. This can happen if you've interrupted the preview building process at the end of the import process. Since there is no preview image available, C1 will have to build one the next time you access the raw files whose previews didn't get built. Does this happen each time you view the same raw image? Or does it only happen the first time?

If I were seeing this type of thing, I'd check the preview size settings (you usually want them to be around the size of the native resolution of your monitor) and then let C1 work on making the previews for a while. If it's still happening after the previews have been made, maybe there's something else going on.
