Beachball all the time
MAC PRO 6 Core, 3.5 GHz, 64 GB RAM, Lacie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2 with 1.3 GB Write speed. And Capture One shows me all the time if i open a session with IQ 180 Pictures the Beachball if i switch from one pick to the next.
Sometimes ii have to leave to captures one for minutes before i can use it. I am using the latest version of C1.
i realy have no idea what C1 is doing in that time. Sometimes the taskmanger show me capture one is crashed but after minutes it is back.
Is they any idea? How i can use it again how it should work, i mean i have a powerfull Workstation and i cannot use it with C1.
OSX is Yosemite
Thanks for the help

Not sure whether the OP also has a very high number of files in one directory, but he/she would be better off by working on images on an internal drive, either spinning or SSD.
Then, reduce the number of images in one directory to max. around 300, that way C1 (and many other programs) will work much smoother.0 -
Eric,
If I understand things correctly you are using an IQ180 back, right?
Have you already contacted Phase by creating a Support Case?
If not I would suggest that you should. They should be in a good position to help diagnose what is happening by looking at the log files and other technical information that is available.
If that is not the case then asking here, a User to User forum, may provide some useful information but probably only if another user with a similar set up and a similar problem happens to see your post.

just to let you know, the lacie little big disk 2 is the fastest SSD on the market with 1.3 Gigabyte/s write speed and more then 1 Gigabyte/s read speed Connect nativly over Thunderbolt 2.0
And yes C1 on crash ask me all the time to send report but until today no feedback at all ☹️ So maybe i have to open a special dedicated ticket to Phase One for this.

Eric,
The automatic error reports are, usually, meant to be anonymous in so far as they can be anonymous. They are certainly not intended to be personalized problem reports but they are useful for technical analysis and can capture a wide range of useful data that help with future design and planning - but not individual problems.
For dedicated personal support you really need a Support Case.
Fast disks are great things however there is no guarantee that disk access speeds achieved are the same as the theoretical maximum speeds under certain test conditions. In fact perceived performance problems may be nothing at all to do with the disk itself but any number of other factors may be influencing things.
Even if the Phase support teams do not have a ready answer working with you should provide them with information that will help to work out what is going on.

Yes, I know it is the best stuff on the planet, but fellow users give you advice to help you iron out the issue. Always start with a modest amount of images in a new session or catalog on the internal disk. If that works great, next step is to move that same session/catalog to your external disk or add a bulk of images to the session just created. And so on...0 -
I have increased the page size of the underlying SQLITE database from 1024 bytes to 4096 and get a subjective performance increase once the CO has started up with approximately 50k images. 0 -

With sessions, the recommended maximum amount of images per folder is 500 to 1000. With catalogs you do not have this limitation.0 -

I'm not sure a Session with 8000 images makes sense as a session but I have a few with 3 to 4000 images and they run with no regular significant problems.
However, I am using Windows 7. C1 and a number of other windows application run as very distant competitors to Firefox, Windows Explorer (since recent times) and Adobe Flash in the crash and delay stakes.
The fact that Windows Explorer (used widely by windows applications) has a problem is worrying but not as worrying as all of the problem reports I read from postings by Mac users.0 -

You can spread your images over several folders in a single session, use albums and favorites to merge them inside a session and enjoy a better performance.0 -

OK i got it before ! i stored all my images inside the session folder
it look like this folder 2015 , 2014 , ...... don by years but i found that i can't use the
the Filter , Capture folder or album , or select folder inside the C1 session, thats way i put all pictures in the capture folder
do you mean i should build sub folders inside the capture folder ?
thanks !0 -
Yes, you can either build sub folders in the default Capture folder or the parent session folder. The trick is once you make them session favorites, they are included in the session's search.
Smart tip is to create a new favorite from the Library tool, and create the new folder from CO8. Or you create the new folders first and make them favorite in the next step.
In my blogs on sessions I explained this as well. Perhaps it helps.
