Importing sessions/folders
I shoot tethered into a session, then once the shoot is somewhat finalized, I import the session into my overall catalog. However, by that time I have typically added a few folder to the shoot, like a folder for PSDs and JPGs. I have noticed when I use the session import feature, it adds the structure as a Project. But when I go down to the basic Folder section and see the folder, the subfolders (like PSD and JPG) are not there. Instead of importing the session, if I just import the folder instead, it basically shows up blank, with zero captured files and no subfolders.
Is there an efficient way to import a session into a catalog and bring in PSDs and such with them? Right now it seems that I have to bring in the session, then go down and custom build the folder structure to match what I see in Finder. On that note, I have zero idea what "Synchronize" does within C1. In LR, it updates that folder with anything and everything within that folder. Within C1, it seems to do absolutely nothing. I would have hoped that it would align the folder to match the folder/file structure I find in Finder.

When you initially make the PSD & JPG folders are you adding them to the session favorites? If not I'd suggest giving that a try and re-importing. 0 -
Thanks for your reply. I had not been adding them to Favorites within the session. After a variety of testing I found that if I export a PSD from the session directly into the Output folder, then the Output folder shows up in the Folder section upon import to my main Catalog. However, if I export that PSD to a "psd" subfolder from the session, then it does not show up in the Folder section of the catalog when I import the session. However, if I do as you advised and add the "psd" subfolder in the Output while I am in the Session, then the proper file structure shows up when I import to the catalog.
So that answers my main concern. Thank you! I would like to take it a step further and understand how C1 handles synchronizing. Once I have added that session to my main catalog, and I have my "psd" folder in the Folder structure, when I add another PSD to that same folder (from Finder) and I go back and sync that "psd" folder, the new PSD shows up. But if I create a "jpg" folder next to the "psd" folder within the Output folder (from Finder) and go back to my C1 catalog and synchronize the Output folder, the "jpg" folder does not show up, whether the folder is populated or not.
Does synching only add files and not folders? Does a new folder (even if it lives inside of an existing catalog folder) have to be manually added?0 -
I don't use catalog's so I can't answer that for you, perhaps someone else can jump in here. I would suggest to look under View > Global Filters and make sure Always hide JPG is not selected. Short of that I'd guess you'd need to import the JPG folder and not synchronize it, but like I said I'm not a catalog user. 0 -
I appreciate your responses. Thanks! 0
