Tethered Capture Problem with Mac

    First, I think that the USB issue you refer to is a 10.6.8 issue, which affects either application that uses the tethered connection.

    Second, from you post I could not derive whether you use the Canon 5D or 5D mkII. Note that CO6 does not support the first model for tethering (it does support the raw). You need CO5 for that. Tethering might work for the initial 5D, but you can not get support for it. Tip: always check the release notes of the software version at hand against your camera model.

    You should also try another USB Cable. I had similar problems working on MacBook Pro early 2010 with 10.6.7 and CO Pro 6.2.2 (also tried 6.2.1). Luckily I did bring a spare USB cable which worked. Different brands and length models act differently. Using extensions might be causing problems as well, but doesn't have to. In my case, the working cable did have an extension and performed well. Using a USB repeater also definitely helps and is highly advised.
