Ver. 8.1 keeps RAM busy
Looks like the 8.1 uses an increasing amount of RAM as you work on the pictures, and this will eventually take all the available RAM. I need to exit C1 and relaunch it, in order to free the RAM. This is a different behaviour than the previous versions, and I assume is a bug of some sort... kind of a Photoshop RAM bug from few releases ago 😁
I'm a C1 Pro user since version 5.

This is concerning to me as I don't have much RAM (although 8.0.2 works perfectly for me, it is snappy and has never crashed)
Definitely open a support case, it is the only way to get issues like this reported to those who can fix it.0 -
There appears to be a memory leal. I just opened Capture One 8.1 on my machine and opened and edited a number of images in different directories using sessions mode. I had resource monitor open all the time and watched memory utilisation slowly increase from 3.5GB to 6.5GB as I opened individual files to edit. Even when I stopped working on a file and moved to a different file in another directory no memory was released. I did not bother seeing what happened when I ran out of memory as that would have taken some time as i have 32GB. It could be of course that Capture One keeps images in RAM if there is pleanty availabe for quick access if you go back to work on them later in the same session - perhaps someone would care to comment. 0 -
Could this be the cause of a friends complaint? He updated to 8.1 and because he runs two other programmes alongside C1, including the Internet, which is also what I do, when he came to export a finished image to his JPEG folder his screen locked up as C1 8.1 crashed. This happened when trying it several times. Eventually he rolled back to the previous version and all is well. As we have similar computers with just 8 gig of RAM I will hold off downloading the update until I have got to the bottom of this. I would be grateful for an answer to this problem, before investing in RAM I may not actually need. 0 -
Has anyone checked if 8.1.1 has changed this continually increasing memory usage pattern?
(I hesitate to say 'fixed the memory leak bug' as it was never firmly found to be a bug, let alone a memory leak)-1
