Use Magne Camera Profiles with C1 V6?
I am trying out Capture One version 6. I've been using Magne's custom camera profiles with Capture One Pro from versions 3 to 5. I'm currently using 32 bit Windows XP SP3.
Does anyone know if version 6 can still use Magne profiles? And if so, how do I properly install the ICC files?
Thanks,
Paul

Yes, they work with CO 6.0.
1. Copy ETC profiles to C:\Program Files\Phase One\Capture One 6\Color Profiles\DSLR.
2. Rename them to conform to the new camera profile naming convention.
In my case I copied following files:
Canon-5D-C1-ETC-V200-HiSat.icc
Canon-5D-C1-ETC-V200-LoSat.icc
Next I renamed them to:
CanonEOS5D-C1-ETC-V200-HiSat.icc
CanonEOS5D-C1-ETC-V200-LoSat.icc0 -
Nelson, thanks, I'll give this a try.

Nelson,
I am using CO Express 6.0 x64.
I did exactly what you suggested but I do not see the profile when I browse through all profiles in the ICC Profile drop down box. They should appear in the Canon subset, but they are not shown.
I renamed Magne profiles following the standard convention of other Canon profiles in that folder.
Do you know how to insert profiles in the "Other" subset?
Please let me have your suggestions.
Thanks,

Nelson,
I revised the names of the profiles and they now appear correctly in a sub-panel under the Canon camera model of the profile (in my case 20D). So your suggestion works very well thank you.
If you know how to insert them under the "Other" subset I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks again,

Persio,
I cannot find any profile under C:\Program Files\Phase One\Capture One 6\Color Profiles that falls into the "Other" category. As other category might not be camera profile, placing the profile under "Other" might not be possible.
Just curious about the need for placing a camera profile under the other category. Remember Magne's profiles are tuned for each camera. Wouldn't it make more sense to place it under the proper camera name?0 -
Nelson,
You are correct.
I like Magne's profiles and I very often use it regardless of the file source (camera), for example, I currently use a 40D but with certain images I use my 20D Magne profile for a much better result (my taste).
Thanks for your comments.

Persio,
I do too by using the 5D profile on 5D2 images, since Magne stopped making profiles after the 5D.
What I did was to clone the 5D profiles and give them new names that follow the 5D2 naming convention. I also have to use a hex (binary) editor to edit the profiles names inside the files.
This way Magne's profiles show up under both 5D and 5D2 sections. Since CO Pro shows the section of the profiles based on the camera model depending on the image being processed, it is nice to have the same profile under two sections.0
