    Rebecca,

Web pages such at the one you referenced are relatively static. Most of that page's content does not change (at least not very often). It would be much more convenient for those of us watching for updates if they were posted in a forum such as this one, where new postings or updates are flagged as new.

So, if you (or someone at PhaseOne) would post updates here as well, I would appreciate it, and I'm sure many others would, too. In fact, I believe that the "Announcements and FAQ's - Technical forum would be ideal for such postings. And it is relatively idle - the last posting there seems to have been about a year ago - so it would be easy to monitor.

    Thanks,

    David

I'm quite sure the people who are asking this question are checking the website, especially considering they're posting these messages to it.

If Phase One's is going to make their 2007 delivery commitment for V4 it would seem a beta should be delivered PDQ. From where I sit it looks like you guys are running out of runway.

On Luminous Landscape, this was posted two days ago:

I can't find anything about this from PhaseOne myself, so I just assumed that it could be gossip. In any case, Beta would not be for me, I'll sit and wait for the final release...

Thanks for taking a moment to let us know of your concerns. Good designs take significant time, and we've been working on Capture One 4.0 non-stop. Any new products that have been released will be posted on our website, www.phaseone.com. Keep checking back for the latest announcements or sign up as a beta-tester. You will receive an email when the beta is available. Thanks!

    Rebecca:

How does one sign up to be a c14 beta tester?

    Tim,

There is a checkbox on the download page.

Go to the PhaseOne site,\\ and click on the download link. You don't have to actually download the latest 3.x, but you have to get almost to that point.

Oops! There *used* to be a checkbox there. I just went to try to verify it, and it was gone. The process is apparently different now.

Log onto your account on the PhaseOne website, and go to your account settings by clicking on your username at the top of the page. Click "Update". You'll find a checkbox there to list yourself as a beta tester.

OK, thanks - I'll give that a try.

Anyone know if this beta is going to include DNG?

I forgot - the phase one site won't allow me to log in, ever, or even create a new account - all I've ever got is an error message. I remember something odd about all of this a few months ago but don't have time now to go searching for an answer. I hope they get this fixed someday...

    HI -
Capture One 4 will have immediate support for new cameras, RAW files and operating systems and it supports Adobe® DNG and XMP formats in order to integrate better with your favorite imaging software.

    Kind regards-

Thanks for the instructions about how to sign up as a beta tester. I have done so on the Phase One site. The sooner I can get my P45+ files into Capture One 4 beta (which I understand handles high dynamic range files), the better! Right now the current version really limits what I can do with my outdoor P45+ files which have deep shadows and bright highlights.

Anyone know when the beta will be released?? thanks, Eleanor Brown

Hey Eleanor, can you sign me up to? Ha, ha. I still can't get the phase one site to work - been that way for months...I'll probably have to wait on Thomas Knoll for his update...

If you're on Mac, try to log thru Firefox.
It worked for me (and not with Safari Beta 3)…

Ok, thanks Nicolas - I don't have firefox but will see if I can get it to work with something else. I've never used anything but Safari...

Well it happens quite oftenly that Safari doesn't work with some website, like bank's or with some process like registering…

Some web developpers just don't care about Safari, and forget that they are some others worlds than Microsoft…

I've heard that C1 4.0 beta will be out the end of this month. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? I have signed up as a beta tester and have a bunch of recent P45+ files that absolutely cannot be anywhere near successfully processed in the current capture one. The dynamic range is too broad and my processed files end up with inky black shadows if I'm going to keep detail in the highlights. All the information I need is there visible when I slide the exposure slider back and fourth, but there is no way to compress the histogram in the current version of c1. Eleanor
