Short answer is yes. The rental company will need to have the appropriate Pro licence.

I am not sure there is any problem. CO8 Pro DB is free for PhaseOne Back owners, so unless you used your own license number, which then you could log into PhaseOne and deactivate all you licenses, then just re-activate yours.

Another thing, If the rental company does things right, they are currently re-imaging the computer. I would hope that when renting a computer, I don't have to worry about what the last person happen to be doing on it.

Hello everyone - Short version of a long story. I had to update C1 on set. It asked me for a license code which I did not have. I choose to start it in DB. We were using an IQ 260. Computer was a rental.

Can the next person who uses that computer use C1 Pro? Don't want to mess it up for the next person. Thx!

Yeah, no problem. You can end the DB activation by deactivating from Capture One menu > License. This will put the copy in the trial mode. Now, the next user can do whatever he/she likes: use the trial, or activate with their key.

By the way, updating (new version with same major version number) does not involve activation, although it sometimes happens. Upgrading, higher major version number, does.
