Do you use Sessions or Catalogs?
I'm pretty new to C1, and I can't figure out which one is "better."
Most of my experience is with Bridge+Camera Raw. I always liked the simplicity; I could manage everything from the filesystem, and the only "extra" thing I had to deal with was the XMP sidecar files, so unlike C1, I was never confused about what's actually going on behind the scenes.
One of my biggest considerations is that I work from two computers. I may dump my RAW files onto my little Macbook while I'm away from home, then move them to my desktop once I get home. I found I can export the originals with adjustments then import them into the catalog on my desktop, but the whole process makes me feel uneasy that if I put something in the wrong place or miss a step, then I lose my work. With Bridge I just copy the RAWs with their XMP files and that's it.

Sounds like you should look closely at Sessions.
Which tutorials and Webinars have you viewed so far?0 -
You can also use Catalogs. I use a MacBook Air when I’m traveling and creating a small catalog on an external drive, do my edits etc on the road. Once I’m at home, I import my small catalog into my desktop catalog which is stored on my iMac. Then there is no issue losing adjustments etc. 0 -
Sessions are good for moving work between machines since they are stand alone - bring the directory structure and the images and you are set.
I actually use both. Typically I'll start with a session and possibly move to my notebook for a while and back to my maint machine. Once I am done or nearly done I'll important into my catalogue.
This way I get some flexibility of working on a second machine but also the ability to see all my work in one place - once it's in good shape.0
