Sounds like you should look closely at Sessions.

Which tutorials and Webinars have you viewed so far?

You can also use Catalogs. I use a MacBook Air when I’m traveling and creating a small catalog on an external drive, do my edits etc on the road. Once I’m at home, I import my small catalog into my desktop catalog which is stored on my iMac. Then there is no issue losing adjustments etc.

Sessions are good for moving work between machines since they are stand alone - bring the directory structure and the images and you are set.

I actually use both. Typically I'll start with a session and possibly move to my notebook for a while and back to my maint machine. Once I am done or nearly done I'll important into my catalogue.

This way I get some flexibility of working on a second machine but also the ability to see all my work in one place - once it's in good shape.
