C1 freezes

    Peter,

I have seen some odd things recently although in my case it seemed to sort of coincide with one of the regular Windows updates.

It's not consistent though and seems to happen more if I have multiple sessions open - which I tend to do a lot.

I suspect that it may not be a freeze so much as windows handling.

For example the main screen can get to a point where the windows pop up activities bar, doesn't pop up unless I use the dedicated Windows key. But other sessions will work OK.

In some cases the apparent freeze may be, I suspect, a pop up window that doesn't appear as the top window like we would expect but remains hidden behind the front screen (and possibly other windows) waiting for a response which it will never get!

Being almost impossible to fully diagnose I tend to go through a couple of consecutive "shut everything down and the restart windows" cycles in order to at least try to clear some of the crud from Windows settings before digging any deeper if the problem persists.

If I could pin down a combination of events that produce the glitch I would report it to Phase in a Support Case for information but so far all I could say is "this sometimes seems to happen" which may not be much use and probably not much of a surprise!

Hi Grant, thanks for your answer.

Well, in my case the problem is very consistent.
Every time I leave C1 to work in another program ( Browser, Photoshop....) and I want to go back to C1 it freezes.
Very annoying and it makes importing images nearly impossible.
When I restart C1 it will import the same images as duplicate's with _1 added to the file name.

By the way, the problem started when I updated to C1 8.3
I will try to install an earlier version of C1 and see if I can fix the problem.

    Confused, Peter

I downgraded C1 from version 8.3 to 8.2.2 and the problem disappeared.
So I guess, it is the latest C1 which causes the problem.

Hope there will a a patch soon !!!

    Well, a patch for what?

Unless you (or someone) has reported a diagnosable problem you may be disappointed. I can't be sure but it seems to be a possibility.
