Syncing Imports versus 'Normal' Imports
I am new to Capture One Pro and have successfully imported an Aperture Library and begun editing with CP1. I am confused about the Syncing import feature versus the normal file import. I currently import referenced files to my Catalog. They appear in Recent Capture dated xx/xx/xx. I then select the files and 'drag' them to the User Collection project in which I want them to be included. The difference between this workflow and Aperture is that I was able to select the project and sub-folder (if desired) to directly import the referenced files. Aperture has a 'Last Import' line that is similar to 'Recent Capture'. Will the syncing feature allow me to do this directly without dragging the files from recent capture? Will syncing offer something else that I am missing? I have read the documentation and watched the tutorials, but I am still missing something here. Thanks for any help.

I can't find much detailed information about syncing, what I have managed to understand is that C1 stores image metadata for each image in its catalog or session file, and also (if so configured by the user preferences) in an XMP file in the same folder as the referenced image, or in the referenced image itself.
What syncing does is make metadata data in all these locations the same.
If I understand correctly, the purpose of the XMP file is for communicating the Metadata to other applications also manipulating the image files, such as Media Pro (except that media Pro only works with older version of C1, not the current 8.3 version)
I've turned syncing off, since for now I only use C1 for manipulating the images, and syncing take a long time if you have a lot of images.
If any one has better understanding of syncing and Metadata it would be nice to have their comments.
Even nicer to have some official information in the user manual.0
