Tether Nikon D800(e) with USB 3.0 PCIe Card for MacPro?
Hello,
Has anyone successfully tethered their Nikon d800(e) with Capture via USB 3.0 using an add-on USB 3.0 PCIe card in a MacPro? Or has anyone attempted this?
I'm looking to make this upgrade myself and I'd love to hear about anyone else's experiences. Personally, I'm using a 3.2 GHz quad-core mid-2010 MacPro running 10.7.3
Many thanks!

I will be trying this in the coming months and will keep you posted on the results. For what it's worth, we're running a Sonnet PCIe USB3 2-port card in a Mid 2012 Mac Pro 12core 0 -
Anyone tried this yet
Looking at the Caldigit Card http://www.caldigit.com/FASTA-6GU3/0 -
Hi again,
Those are the exact 2 cards I'm considering. Looking forward to hearing both of your experiences!

Hi
Have tried the CalDigit USB3 adaptor in a MacPro 5.1
Works OK with the Lexar card reader but causes a kernal panic when the D800E camera is plugged in.
Also after using the card reader USB2 keyboard becomes slow so unplugging the card reader when not needed is advisable

Are you connecting both the card reader and the camera at the same time? Are you sure its a kernal panic or just App crash? Never been a good idea to have a camera and reader connected (esp. when on the same protocol). 0
