CaptureONE Black Friday Sale 2012
I am hoping PhaseONE will have a repeat of their Black Friday sales this year. I know they had their 50% Black Friday sale last year, because I received their newsletter with their promotional code.
Does anyone know of any substantial coupon codes to upgrade my 6 PRO to 7 PRO? This was the OLD link I received from P1's newsletter for their Black Friday sale 2011. . I haven't received any newsletter in my inbox this time around. I may have unsubscribed during half way into the 2012 year. I do not remember.

There probably is not one. I too do not have any emails from PO on this.

Hi Jim,
It's cool bumping into you here in the forums. My trial demo of version 7 expires on Christmas day and earlier with LR's sales discounted, I bought their version 4 license for handling higher ISO files. LR/ACR's noise reduction far supersedes C1PRO6's; however, when C1PRO7 came, their noise reduction and the newer processing engine truly are marvels and worthy to upgrade. I am think thinking because in all honesty, I don't really need to upgrade. There is a part of me that wants to use the latest and up-to-date RAW image software technology.
I shall see. If no Black Friday sales this year, maybe they will have their 50% off sale in time for Christmas. My demo still has time to run and I'll expend the remaining trial interim.
Happy holidays to you and your family Jim.
Yours sincerely,0 -
I don't ever remember them offering a huge discount when a version is as new as CO7. It'd probably go down extremely badly with anyone who'd paid full whack for it only a couple of weeks earlier for one thing. 0 -
True, but a sale is a sale and good for business. That was why when I replied to Jim, I am now hoping that P1 have a a Christmas sale because my trial version of 7 PRO expires on the 25th December. I have been a long time user of C1PRO, since their 3.7.8 days.
Because of the link to 50% Black Friday sale from 2011, I waited and did not upgrade my 6 PRO to 7 PRO on 25th October (the debut day for C1PRO7). I also didn't upgrade because I am being smart. The current demo version of 7 is riddled with bugs and inconveniences. I have a reported a weirdness for folder creation a few threads down and several others were facing their own quagmires with OpenCL and other anomalies—which should be expected for a new software release. I also don't want to deter from my *own* topic. I shall stop here about the bugs in C1PRO7.
As an avid consumer to P1'a products (except MediaPRO: that was a software abomination), I could remain hopeful that P1 will have a Christmas sale and I could upgrade to 7 PRO as a significant savings at less than 99 USD.

I would happily pay the full lot if Phase One would...
_made a real folder browser WITHOUT placing all CO / cache and settings folders.
_ability to rid/hide the Catalog confusion.
_It would be great if "Sessions" went away also.
This would at least fix crashes that occur when in a "session" and you browse to another folder.
If you offer a Pro "Shooter" version (very much the way 3.7's core works) around this price, I would buy it. I think most folks would buy it. Make it a superior developer without any overhead.
Now, if they made such a sale price of 50% for v7, I'd likely buy it, as I really like the new dev engine.....
But still launch and use it with hesitation.
Most who purchased it right away must have seen the value and would care little about it, as those users would have made their gains in the studio with it.0 -
Hi Raffi,
I am "sucking it up" and using the trial until it expires December 25th. Right now in C1PRO7's condition, no one in the right mind should upgrade or buy. I have released a "buyer's beware" to ALL my professional colleagues who are current PRO license holders or others thinking of adding the PRO workflow to their studio.
I read on the official Twitter of P1 that C1PRO 7.0.1 will be released shortly augmenting several bug fixes that SHOULD NOT HAVE EXISTED in the "final, release" version!!! It they release a beta or even a release candidate, the bugs and anomalies are expected because it is a beta/RC version and not the final.
You know?
Regardless of my frustration, CaptureONE is from PhaseONE and I still have confidence in them that they will deliver the promised "what the world's best photography is made of" motto. Wait until C1PRO 7.0.1. I am hoping the bugs will be killed in that version.[quote="Raffi3" wrote:

If this is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, it is a strange release number; not a 7.1.
In some software worlds, this implies that just a few significant bugs were fixed, and that other known ones are still there.
BTW, I have figured out a work flow to take advantage of the new development tools which I really like (when they work).0 -

An upcoming 7.0.1 release stands for maintenance update, a.k.a. bug fixes, and no added functionality. It does not say much about the amount of fixes (nor the amount of work 😂 that went into it)
A (now theoretical) 7.1 release mostly refers to added functionality, a.k.a. point release and may include bug fixes too.
This is how I read the release numbers of CO in the past, but they are not written in stone and what counts is the end result. Both major releases and point releases are often followed by one or more maintenance releases to iron out issues.0 -
I have only experienced very few problems. I had it crash a couple times, when in Sessions, I browse to other folders to continue working. So I'm not sure of the bugs.
I have heard of multiple problems on Mac.
I use C1 with a Phase DB. If we shoot with my other cameras, LR is used. The quality is important on the DB files.
LR does a good job on 75% of the work. I like C1 dev better. But its just not practical to work with. The overlap on the two developers leave C1 as a developer.
C1 is used to make the initial key image file to futher work from in LR or PShop, etc.... all else is distracting.0
