    CO Pro 6 provides you to ways which you can either use and combine.

    First, I would stick to ONE copy of your image file on your disk (*_01.tif or without _01) and not create an additional copy. CO6 has the Variant feature for that. The original is NEVER touched when editing and you can create as many sets with different edits in Variants. Variants are a kind of virtual copies of the same image file but different adjustments.

    Next, in the output recipe, you can use the Sub Name field feature from the Advanced tab in the Process Recipe. You need to select <Image Name><Sub Name> output format to allow CO6 fill in your Sub Name. Instead of a sub name you could consider using a counter. Note that the <space><#> addition is CO6's way to store files of the same name in the same folder, preventing an overwrite.

    This is in particular important as you seem to save the output in the image folder with the same name and extension.
