File handling
Newbie here, please be kind.
Starting to use CO8, but having difficulty. Two questions:
1. When I delete an image by delete key, ctrl-del key, or alt-del key on CO8, the file remains in Explorer, although CO8 does not show the file.
How can I delete the image file? The target file is NEF.
2. Even if I delete files in Explorer, OC8 shows those images. How can I reflect the deletion in OC8 automatically?
AdvaThanksnce

U--m,
No response.
I give up CO and move to LR.0 -
Hi,
Remember this is a user to user forum 😊
In my case (win7/8.1) the Ctrl-Del, Alt-Del or Del key throw up a dialog asking if you want to "Delete", "Remove Reference" or "Cancel".
Select "Delete" and it will be deleted from the disk, "Remove Reference" just removes it from the catalog.0 -
>Select "Delete" and it will be deleted from the disk,
It does not (in my case at least). That is why I asked.0 -

In which case the usual advice would be to create a Support Case and see where that leads.
There are so many potential combinations of software/hardware/firmware/whatever out there that some issues that are unique or almost unique will inevitably exist to confound the general experience.
What happens if you select the file to delete and then use the File menu and select Delete?
If you delete using explorer outside Cap1 the C1 session or catalog will not know about the deletion until you ask it to find the file (in some way). Then it will say it cannot be found. C1 will not know whether you have deleted the file or moved it somewhere. You will need to tell it what to do.
HTH.

Sounds like a permissions issue to me, either user or folder, or trash folder.
And usually applications cannot delete from a CF card in a camera.0 -

Well, LR does the same way, deleting within the catalog you can 1. remove image from the catalog byt remains on the disk or 2. delete from disk (and the catalog of course).
If you delete the image from disk outside LR you still will see the image (or just the info about the missing image) in LR...0 -
Thanks everybody.
Well, the problem is now fixed:
I did a long survey within my PC.
(BTW, LR has different "delete" methodology. It's been working.)
I decided to clean-up HDD and reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate. That resolved the problem.
Thanks anyway.
