C1 software with leica m8, instal problems and free update?

I just bought a leica m8. With it came C1 LE 3.7.7 software.

The installation doesn't work with mac snow leopard. So it seems the licence is just to old.
But, on the CD it say's there is one free software update.

Does this mean I can use C1 4 with my licence code? I tried C1 5 but that one did not work.

Is it still possible to use the licence I got with the m8? Or do I have to buy an upgrade anyway?
And how can I use that free software update?

  Although I prefer to leave license related questions for the Phase One staff, I know you can use your Leica M8 license key for CO4 and pay for an upgrade fee to go to CO5. When you are on Snow Leopard I strongly advise to go for CO5.
