EIP
I love the idea for EIP very much as I am moving around with my files a lot. Also for archiving selected images EIP is a nice solution.
Question: is there any drawback using EIP as the standard fileformat all the way the workflow? Is it slower?

actually, instead of EIP format, may be it 'd be nice idea to use a DNG format w/ one exception - store the original raw file intact inside (as it is supported by DNG spec), but do not duplicate the raw data, skip that - just add all other DNG tags... of course that (not duplicating the raw data) is not officially supported by Adobe, they want to have raw data stored directly in DNG anyways (regardless of whether you have the original raw file inside or not)... unless of course that will be considered as a step into a wrong direction (helping a competition - Adobe). 0 -
There are no immediate drawbacks from using EIP. The speed penalty is almost non existing. The only thing I can think of is that third party application may not recognize the format as they would TIF or IIQ files. However you should be able to preview them in Finder. 0
