can't process images: C1 says there's no space on HD
hi, i've only had c1 pro on my mac g4 for a few weeks now and I've been coming across so many gliches it's unreal. so i'm trying to make quickproofs because i can't grab the previews or the thumbnails to make a proof sheet (why they don't rename the previews is simply .tif's i have no idea). anyway, so i'm trying to make quickproofs but the software stops me because it says:
\"can not write processed image. there is not enough free disk space on the disk containing the output folder. please free additional --. The batch queue has been stopped.\"
this is completely rediculous because i have almost 200 gigs on that disk! i've restarted the program. trashed the preferences file. restarted. i've tried it all. please help me!!

Dear Wesley
At a rough guess I would suggest that you might have another 'Capture' folder on another disk and C1 is using that. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I have over a year's experience.
There is also a problem with Macs in that they do not always give the real figure for free disk space. One of mine stuck on 39Gb even when it was full. After a few days it decided to correct itself.
Hope this helps

Wesley,
I am having the same problem. I have a brand new Mac G5 (1 week young). I have a 250GB internal and a 250GB external (Maxtor also new with over 230GB available). I started with all my files on the external and processed quite a few, until......I recieved the same message about No Free Disk Space. WHY?? I tried creating a new session and moving all my files. I deleted all sessions (3) and started all over. Still no good. Then I moved everything to my internal HD. Now it works, but I still have to move everything back to my external HD when I am done (added step I don't want). My external HD is USB 2.0 FWIW.
Bob,
I only had 1 session when I ran into my problems, so my files were not compromised by another 'Capture' folder. Also, if you are using 'Item Info' to show the free disk space for your drive, the information will not update unless you restart your computer or if you bring up 'Force Quit' and highlight Finder then press Relaunch and it will update the amount of HD space.
Rambling....anyway if anyone is having the same problem, I would like to find out if it is an external disk, USB or both problem, so I can go back to my external HD. Thanks,

I am having the same problem with a new 250gb firewire drive. On another forum I read that it may have something to do with permissions, and that you needed to set the drive to \"Ignore Permissions\". Unfortunatley, I left it formatted as a PC drive becasue I am using it for files for a client that uses PC's, and the \"permissions\" options apparently do not exist for PC-formatted drives.
Despite having well over 200 gb available, I get this same message. I must process to an internal drive and then move the files to the external. What a pain. I may copy everything off of that drive and reformat as a mac volume and see if that solves anything, but I doubt it. I have a 200 gb external (FW) and I process files on it all the time, but it is Mac formatted. I suspect it is some problem with Capture One not playing well with drives over 200 gb, but that's just a guess. Will post my results here.0 -
I've been having similar problems for some time. I think that I've found the solution today.
Here is the scenerio.
All my external drives are formatted FAT 32 - this is the default for most external hard drives - it will allow the drive to be attached to either a MAC or PC platform and work appropriatly.
With drives in this format, I get the errors that you have discussed. Screen grabs of these errors can be seen here:

Today I borrowed and external drive that was formatted MAC OS Extended. I put a session on that drive, and tried processing out some raw images. Everything worked without a problem.
So, check and see how your drive is formatted - MAC OS Extended or FAT 32.
Please post your results... this may find the root of this problem.0 -
Had the same problem with a brandnew LaCie 250gb externel drive.
Found out with \"info\" that it was MS-Dos formatted 🤓 (bought it in a Apple shop)
Anyway reformatted in MacOS extended journaled and allowed the system to read and write plus checking ignore owners... ever since all is fine 😄

Okay, thanks all, and that's a good work-around for the problem at hand. But I have a major client that is PC-based, which is why I left the drive formatted as FAT-32.
Can anyone from PhaseOne explain why, if all other applications have no problem accessing this drive, Capture One cannot? I consider this a flaw, not \"standard operationg procedure\".0
