C1 v3.6 on WinXP - can't find the right twain drivers
Hi,
would anyone be able to tell me where i can find the right twain drivers
to get my eos 1Ds to properly interact with C1 v3.6? I know the readme file mentions something about v5 for both the twain & wia drivers
but i've browsed through a couple of Canon sites and can't find the twain
drivers for Win XP.
Do i, in fact, need the twain drivers to be able to download the images from my CF cards or not. Will it work with only the wia drivers or not.
All that i worry about is to get the capturing to work without having to
use the Canon browser tools as i don't like them.
As i've only just installed it and may have to re-install it i haven't registered the software yet ( don't want to annoy the PhaseOne
staff by registering twice in a week ).
Regards,
Edwin

Edwin, the Canon 1DS drivers are available at:
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/contro ... code=windr
These will allow tetherability.
To download CF cards, all you need is a Card Reader.

Keith,
thankx for the info. I'll try it out during daytime.
I can already say that C1 is magnificent. Noticed it a year or 2 ago
but didn't buy it back then as i wasn't convinced yet. Now i don't understand why i waited so long.

Hmm,
found the wia driver but nowhere do they have an XP compatible
twain driver. So it seems i'll not be able to use the remote capture.
And while trying it out my laptop completely gave up on me
( overheated main board on a 4,5 year old machine ).
Hopefully my new machine will run smoothly in Win 2000 as i'm going
to wipe of the XP os & re-install the good old W2K.0 -
WIA=Windows XP
TWAIN=Windows 20000 -
Ulf,
do you mean that twain doesn't excist on Xp? Or should i go ahaid
& use the W2K drivers on XP although that sounds like asking for troubles. I'll see what it does when i get my new laptop this wednesday. The old system is completely toasted. Hopefully C1 will perform properly again on that system ( 2.13Ghz P4M cpu / 128Mb ATI / 1Gb DDR2 & 60Gb 7200rpm HD ).
Sadly i'll have to anoy the registration server again.
Would it not be a good idea to include a license transfer utility in a next version?
Thankx,
Edwin0 -
Yes that is what I am saying, and this should you be happy about, twain is a old communication standard for scanners on Parallel port, not a really good implementation for highspeed cammeras on firewire.
In my experiance from technical support is the XP / WIA implementaion a far more stabile solution.0 -
Ah, now i get it. But as my new laptop no longer has a firewire port
i'll have to look for a converter ( firewire to USB2 ) or i'll do it with a pcmcia interface. In that case i don't require that functionality anymore.
Sorry to have bothered you for this.0 -
Edwin, no worries, and choose a PCMCIA solution my recommendation is a Belkin which we have good experiances with Phase One camera backs which puts through more amount of data then the Canons but does not seem to have any problems with that. 0 -
PCMCIA solution was ordered today. Thanks again.
Ulf,
would you mind if i send you a private message? There's something i'd
like to ask but i don't want to look stupid so i prefer to keep that out of the forum. I'm merely a serious amateur photographer ( as i don't gain
any benefits from it yet - except for the last batch of images ).0 -
Use our support system at http://support.phaseone.com, if you want me specificly to answer it the simply address it to me. 0
