You should OPEN the Capture One catalog (File, Open), not Import the catalog in Capture One. You can also double click on the catalog from Finder to start CO7 with that catalog.

Thanks, but when I try to open the Catalog that way, the beachball starts spinning and then the program crashes in about 30 seconds. Every time. This does NOT happen with a "dummy catalog" that I created a short while ago. That does open.

Please run a verification/repair of the catalog from CO (while having another session/catalog open), then re-open it.

Still crashing when I click "open" after it runs the Verification. The Verify process seems to be ok, but it still won't open. I assume that my renaming that old catalog as "Master Catalog" would not be the problem.
I have used Lightroom for 3 years. I have never had problems like this with LR. Capture One 7 is just so buggy. It feels like a piece of Beta software.

Should not be the problem, but to minimise errors, I suggest you rename both the catalog folder as well as the catalog db file inside it. To look inside the folder, right-click on it and select "Show package contents".

Since nothing seemed to work, I deleted everything from C1 7 on my computer, including the Catalog, and used a Time Machine backup to reinstall 7.1.2, the "old" version of the Catalog and the other "pieces" of C1 that had been embedded in the User Library files. After satisfying myself that everything worked again, I then left everything in place and upgraded to 7.1.3. So far, so good. I think the problem I have been struggling with may be related somehow to the fact that, when I updated to 7.1.3 last week, I first did a complete uninstall of 7.1.2 and all of the other pieces of C1 7 in my computer other than the catalog, and then installed 7.1.3. Why that would be a problem, I have no idea. After all, someone purchasing C1 7 to day would start with 7.1.3 and may want to load other C1 7 catalogs that were created on another computer.
