purchasing styles question

There was a plug in for Photoshop that was part of the Nik collection (I think Google bought it then DXO now owns it) that would apply different effects to a photo. One of my favorites was detail extractor among a few othersI really liked. I am guessing Styles is very similar. Is our only option the Style Pacs offered on the Phase One site?

It does not appear there are any plug ins available, just Styles and Presets. I guess I should play around with the program and attempt to create my onw Styles. When shooting mid day in bright sun photos out of the camera looked washed out so I want to try and put more pop into them, with the understanding there is not any magic formula to totally overcome poor shooting conditions.
