Hard to say without an example.

Happens on almost every photo (in DNG). Try it yourself; open a fresh DNG and repeatedly click Auto Adjust (or press Opt-L). Every time the auto adjust changes. Sometimes dramatic changes, other times minor.

Is this not a feature of Auto Adjust?
    😕

(edit: just noticed my forum username has reverted back to random characters, wierd!)

It seems to be a progressive fine tuning in 3 steps (Example: Olympus OMD E1 ORF file ); I never noticed before:

    1st 2nd 3rd
Exposure 0.06 no change no change
Contrast 7 no change no change
Bight. 0 no change no change
Saturation 5 no change no change
    Levels 3-247 4-246 no change
    Highlights 11 19 no change
    Shadows 0 4 5

The above 3 step adjustment is reproducible every time.

Could we have a response from Phase One as to whether this is a feature or a bug. I find it rather disconcerting that Auto Adjust is so inconsistent.

You probably should raise a Support Case although I am not really sure why you feel so concerned.

Is the Auto Adjust feature a main part of your workflow? I never us it except for seeing what it might do with some particularly odd exposures.

After your first post, like Ario, I tried it out. The results depended on the file and, it seemed to me following a very brief check, the camera that produced the file. Like Ario I could see a 3 step change cycle (which did not surprise me - we are asking the system to calculate some settings and the changes were very small between steps 1 and 2 and invisible on the image between 2 and 3. Pretty much the same results all round with any differences looking like they were flipping between a limited number of decision points where the decisions were marginal to go one way or another. Either way the result was not very different.

On a separate file from a different camera selected completely at random there were no percievable changes at all.

So I can't see that you are likely to get a definitive answer to your question without creating a support request. You might see one although I personally don't see the observed issue as a problem, but to be more certain of a personal response consider creating a support case.

    HTH.

    Sure.

    Bingo.

Please create a support case, provide and example and we'll be happy to take a look.

I raised this with Support and apparently Pentax K20D DNGs are not fully supported by Capture One. I'll switch back to the PEF format and see if this improves the Auto Adjust functionality. While I don't relay heavily on Auto Adjust, I do often find it a good starting point.

Just tested shooting in PEF and still the Auto Adjust option jumps between a number of differing settings when applied repeatedly. So it's not just Pentax DNGs this happens on. It's not vitally important but it seems odd that CO should behave in the manor and makes we wonder what other quirks there are.
