Batch rename takes 1 hour
I am running Capture One 7.1 and while trying to batch rename 700 images the processing time displays upwards of 56 minutes. I would rename in Adobe Bridge but it disconnects the CR2 and Capture One reference files, thus eliminating my edits. Anyone else experiencing this and have any suggestions?

Have you tried 7.1.1?0 -
Workaround:
Once the batch rename begins and the activity window pops up, click in the negative space around the thumbnails to deselect them all. Once de-selected the batch rename speeds up significantly.0 -

PHASE PEOPLE!!!
Please let everybody know this!
It has changed my life!
Significant isn't the word - 28 minutes remaining before, 10 seconds after 😄 😄
Thanks Sam 😁0 -
I wonder if the same "rule" applies to processing files as well? 0 -

Happened to be half way through some processing when I read this so I tried it. If there is a difference it's not very obvious.
Renaming would be a different game though since the process would not nbe simply making name changes to (and in?) a few files but would prsumably have to deal with whatever open files (i.e. anything selected?) that are nominally "open" in the current process in the system. A bit more work. Plus of course, depending on the system configuration, having the selection in place might be a notable overhead for the processor and memory anyway. Maybe not enough effect to be so dramatically different in times but ...

I've played around with this workaround. When you batch rename with all thumbnails selected the image browser constantly re-sorts the renamed captures. The process of re-sorting is what slows down batch renaming.
So you can deselect the captures once batch renaming starts.
But maybe you don't want to lose your selection. In this case there are 2 more workarounds.
1.) Once the batch renaming starts hide the browser (not quite as fast as deselecting the captures but still pretty fast).
2.) Select "manual" in the "sort by" menu of the browser. This way the browser won't re-sort the images when renaming. Batch renaming runs super fast this way.
Nice detective work, Sam - many thanks!0
