Organization and Workflow suggestions
I love the power of EM2, but I am a mom with other priorities, and I haven't had the time to devote to learning it well....
Years ago, I scanned many family photographs. At my sister's suggestion, I scanned them as TIFF files, for high quality, as we were planning to use them in printed form.
Now, I find that I'm finding more and more I want to use them in ways that do not support TIFF files (copying to a Jablum album to create html galleries that support folder hierarchy, including in an email to my aunt, etc)
So I keep converting to JPG, and then I wind up with duplicates. And I don't know if they should co-reside in the same folder with their TIFF parent, or if they should reside elsewhere.
And, if I change the meta data of the TIF, I have to remember to convert it again to JPG..... so that the JPG will have the same metadata.
To top it all off, my file names are dreadful, so I'm in the process of preparing to copy the filename to the Product field (that you Roelof for the script) and then will batch rename them all (not sure how or what, but....)
I realize organization and workflow methods are best left to what works for the individual, but can any of you suggest some methods or best practices, in particular for whether the TIFF and JPG should co-reside in the same, or different folders? And what to do about keeping the metadata on both in synch?

John Beardsworth does have anothers script, called 'Sync_files_with_same_names.vbs'. You better thank him Instead of me 😄
When you name the JPG's the same as their TIFF originals, you can sync the metadata very vast.
I think it's best to let de JPG's in the same folder as the TIFF's. With any luck Phaseone wil add 'stacking' functionality in the next release. Alle images with the same name act like one image then.

I found Beardworth's site, with his scripts.
And I found the script: Sync_files_with_same_names.vbs
And I see that it is leftover form the days of iView. If you are asking me if I'd like it converted to work with EM2, then the answer is, yes please.0 -
You can also use the script that already resides in EM2 under the name "Copy from items with the same name.vbs . 0 -
The script from John Beardworth 'translated' from iview to EM can be found here: but maybe you could better trie the 'standard' script first. I looked into them both but they are not the same. However, i'm not a developer so i can not see the difference.
So, do some tests first before you use one or both the scripts on you images!
