Profiles in V4 - limited choice
Hi,
under v3.7.x I was able to install 3rd party profiles to increase the functionality of V3.7.x
Under v4.x.x I am limited to one profile for my 40D, generic. I have enquired of the original 3rd party profile maker and he advises there is minimal demand for profiles in V4.x.x.
If I was offered a greater range of profiles by Phase One then I would understand the answer, but for most DSLRs there only appears to be one profile.
Maybe I am missing something in the v4 conversion process that doesn't require anything other than a generic profile.
Maybe Phase One could link up with a profile maker and offer a range of profiles to us as part of our download package.

CO4 allows you to install 3rd party profiles as well. The file location has changed and there is a file name restriction.
I regard the Capture One software as an open platform for 3rd party or home made profiles. The Pro version adds the color editor (which is basically a profile editor). Nothing has changed that with the release of CO4.0 -
Hi Paul,
I suspect there must be more to it than that, one of the prominent 3rd party profile providers has said there is minimal requirement/requests for profiles in V4. Possibly the profile requests came from the Pro user group which is still waiting for the upgrade to be released.
I am aware of the profile addition function in V4, I did add my v3 profiles to my PC installation, but they aren't very useful on a 10D let alone on a 40D.
My ability to make profiles, let alone accurate profiles is not great, hence my request for the proposed release of V4 Pro. From memory the lens correction function is part of v4 Pro as well.

As Paul says, you can put any profile into V4, you just have to adhere to the file naming convention. I don't know what profiles you are using, but certainly Magne's 10D profile was one of his that did not work in v4 - certainly at the beta stage - but almost all others did. Is it Magne's that you are trying to use with your 10D images?

Hi Iain,
yes they are Mange's profiles.
I read a number of threads on the subject during beta testing and was hoping I could get some updated profiles now V4 is in production.
Part of my delayed re-action was I had a meltdown of the main and backup drives on my PC and lost a lot of data. I only discovered that some of data is still on the laptop after getting working again, somewhere over 100 patches were re-applied.
The laptop still isn't the most reliable device I have used.

Magne has said that he won't be doing any more profiles for PO unless they find some way of protecting his work.
As I said, the 10D profiles didn't work on the v4 beta. Are they still a problem or do they work OK now?0
