You can set the output folder by creating and using a recipe...by going to the "Advanced" tab, you'll find your options for setting any folder you wish as the default for that recipe.

That allows you to not only set any folder, but also have COne create subfolders under the Image folder as prior (3.x) versions did.......each recipe can have an associated folder.

This is driving me nuts. How is this done if the version one has does not have recipes? I need it to work like 3.1 did as I switch directories frequently.

The default needs to automatically be the 'develop' folder in the directory I am working in. Otherwise i find myself spending minutes searching out these directories out of hundreds and worse re-filing developed images to the correct folder.

Don't go nuts...go to page 105 of the 4.8 users guide under the HELP menu...

You version of 4.8 Pro does have the feature that allows you to set it up to operate EXACTLY like 3.x.....you do have to use the "advanced tab" rather than just the basic tab. Then set up the Develops (or Proofs, Or Tiffs, or whatever) folder to go under Image Folder....that folder will be created as part of the Process command, just as 3.x did it.

I use the feature every day, it works seamlessly.....

There is no advanced tab that I can find. Maybe because I am not using Pro? I didn't use pro in 3.7 and it worked fine.

Advanced tab is CO4 Pro/DB only.

Will this (having default develop folder be in directory being worked) be fixed soon?

Unless I'm missing something, I just set whatever I want as in this screenshot.
One position will hold as default until changed, the other setting is temp for current job.

Sorry Alex, I did not realize you were not the original poster. He listed Pro as his software, I misread your response as his. As Paul E pointed out, this is not broken so much as a feature of the Pro version. There are some features of Pro that will not be available in the Standard version, this looks like one of them.

But this is a 'feature' that has long been available in pre-4.x standard edition.

I don't want the same develop folder to be used for all develops, but instead to use the develop folder that is a sub-directory of the original image folder. This is exactly how 3.7 worked. I'd expect the new version to not eliminate capability.

I understand your premise...however, this is a residue of the ability to develop several variations at once in V4, which has always been a feature of the higher end version. I don't speak for PhaseOne, I only report features as a user...and this has been added to V4 Pro only recently.

You should submit this as a feature request for your version of V4.....
