Why does rating get duplicated?
I am sorry if I misunderstood something, but why does C1 replicate a rating/color from RAW to TIFF file and vice-versa?
Steps to reproduce:
==========================
1. Select a RAW file.
2. Lunch Edit With - in my case I edit a file with Affinity Photo.
3. C1 converts RAW to TIFF.
4. Now, assign color or a rating (1-5) to a either RAW or TIFF file.
5. Change the selection (select any other picture) - notice that C1 copies the rating from RAW to TIFF file, or from TIFF to RAW file, depending on whichever file's rating was modified.
6. This happens with and without "Edit Primary / Edit Selected Variants".
Question: how can I assign a rating to a TIFF file w/o affecting the RAW file's rating?
Rationale: C1 does not support stacks, like Lightroom. But I wanted to keep RAW file out of my view since TIFF file has all my edits and I cannot group/collapse multiple files like I used to do in Lightroom.

I have the same problem and opened a support case, but seems that they don't want to solve it.
When you "Edit With" an external software, Capture one generates a new tif file with the same name of the original raw file.
The problem is that the two files (the CR2 and the TIF in my case) share the same XMP sidecar file. This is a problem for me, because i need "Full Sync" in the "Auto Sync sidecar XMP" metadata preference setting. So the two files share the same metadata settings, and making changes to the raw metadata, affects also the TIF metadata. The actual solution for me, is to manually rename the tif file after the edit, but is very annoying.
I asked the support, to add an auto renaming function in the "Edit With" command, to easily solve the problem.
I know also that on older version, a '1' is added to the filename to differentiate from the original raw and sidecar xmp.
The solution for the support team was to disable "Auto Sync sidecar XMP" (but I need it) or to manually rename the tif file after the edit!! This software, so expensive, has a very bad support!0
