Using Capture Pilot and new retina MBP w/o wifi

I am brand-new to C1. I know that I'll have situations in the future where I do not have a wifi network that I can use with my retina macbook pro and my iPad. The phase one help document for doing this "ad hoc" network talks about settings that are not applicable to a newer/non-ethernet laptop. Is there a help/setup document that is applicable to the scenario I'm describing? What are other users doing in this situation? Thanks!

  Hi,
  
  I am sure your retina MBP has WiFi. Whether it has Ethernet or not (through Thunderbolt only), is not relevant for computer-to-computer networks.
  
  The main issue is that to create a computer-to-computer WiFi network (a.k.a. 'ad hoc') is that you run on WiFi. Only then you get the menu item to create a network as described in the KB article 1922, see link below.
