Shortcut for Edit With
Does someone know a what to make a shortcut for the Edit With option? The thing you use if you want to do some editing in PS.
There used to be one.. I believe until V11.. but then C1 decided to totally remove that option. Because hey.. pro's don't edit their photo's in Photoshop.. ??
In fact.. I even had a button assigned to do this on my Tangent Bt Panel.. but that option is gone as well. I was hoping they would re-instate that shortcut (guessing a shortcut is an easy programmable thing) in 12.1.1 but unfortunately.
Anyone a work-around?

The reason for the change is that the feature was moved to being a Plug-in to align with the then newly introduced and much requested Plug-in functionality. 0 -
What plug-in functionality is that? When I use the Help section on Plug-In I can't find anything.
More important.. okay it was being moved to being a plug-in.. but why it it not possible to make a shortcut/tangent for the plug-in then? I mean.. if it was much requested I guess a lot of people use it, and they too would like to use a shortcut to acces it?0 -
As this is (now) a dynamic menu it is not covered by the shortcut manager (same for Styles, Workspaces, Scripts) but it is possible to access if you add your own shortcut using MacOs' menu shortcut feature - via system prefs>keyboard>shortcuts. 0 -

@Jim
I'm trying to make such a shortcut but I'm puzzled how to proceed further. Can you provide any more information?
I presume I need to make a new App shortcut.
I tried making App Shortcuts for Capture One for menu items "Image>Open With", "Image>Edit With", "Image>Open With>Pixelmator" and "Image->Open With->Pixelmator" on MacOs 10.12.6 and 10.13.6 - none of these worked. (CO 12.1.1.7)
I tried making a shortcut to the plugin, but MacOs won't make a Shortcut to a plugin.0 -
I found this old thread on Workspaces - should be relevant to your needs:

[The Capture One forum has migrated to a new platform, as a result all links to Capture One related postsstopped working and have been removed]
This is either not working or requires further refinement for the Edit With and Open With commands.
The Apple Tech Note for application shortcuts is here: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/m ... /mac/10.13
Using this approach I was able to make a working Application Shortcuts for Capture One's Rename Image command as "Rename Image" and as "Image->Rename Image", and in this way also verified some key combination that were not in conflict with other keyboard shortcuts.
However, attempted keyboard shortcuts "Edit With", "Open With", "Image->Edit With", "Image->Open With", "Image->Edit With->Preview" , "Image->Open With->Preview", "Image->Edit With...", "Image->Open With..." all resulted in an error beep.
However, the keyboard actions for Edit with Preview and Open with Preview worked fine (I used Preview as test application because it is a standard Apple application without any third and fourth party entanglements).0 -
I clicked all links above but did not manage to get this fixed.
@Jim,.. do I understand that C1 does not intend to re-instate a keyboard shortcut for the Edit With function? I really can not understand why.. I mean, probably A LOT of people use this. And is it difficult to make that shortcut, or is there not enough bytes available to make this?
@Jim, and if C1 does not re-instate that short-cut, can you explain the work-around a bit more? I tried what @Eric Nepean says but only get error beeps0 -
hello... anyone of the C1 reps here that can help me with this? I even opened a support ticket for this but no reply yet. Come on guys, please. We are pro's that use this software for years.. always buy the update... we already cope with the annoying bugs that C1 comes with like crashing every now and then (or often)... but this is just something that used to work perfectly and can work perfectly again. Your developer decided to get rid of the (very usefull) shortcut.. I'm trying my best here for a workaround but so far no succes 0 -

It may be an annoyance, but of course you can always right click and choose Edit With (or Open With).
And this forum is not really a means of communicating with Phase One staff, though some of them do participate from time to time.

This is a situation where the developers/admin think they know better than the users. Don't take functionality away and not replace it with something similar or better. This behavior is the very reason I left Adobe and Lightroom for Capture One.
I can add to the voice of frustration about the enormous trouble the lack of the "Edit With" has caused me. The lack of this option has completely killed the efficiency of any editing production workflow. Right click on the thumbnail...Edit With....choose app.....dialogue pops up....Edit variant. So many steps to simply open an image. ☹️
IF......and I emphasis IF....plugins will someday be of any benefit, then let Photoshop be one of those that allow a shortcut key to send the image to PS or a PS Droplet without additional menu navigation. The plugin panel recognizes droplets but won't use them let alone assign a shortcut.
The plugin potential seems to be a high price to pay for the current state and lack of useful plugins which are available.
A simple "Edit With" option that allows the choice of editor is all thats needed.

Yes, so do I. What is lacking (and I never used) is the ability now to assign a keyboard shortcut to that action. To my mind, right clicking the image is no harder to do.

Well... a lot of things can be done with clicks/mouse ofcourse.. the people that dó like to fasten their workflow use shortcuts. And it's not 1 click to have a photo opened in Photoshop as a TIFF, it's also moving the cursor around to Edit With then, then Photoshop, then make it really happen, whereas with a shortcut it's just 2 presses of a button. I use the Tangent panels for a lot of stuff.. I have buttons for crop, keystone, all masking options.. it's just soooo much faster with buttons than mousing around.
Like Jonzinator says... it's just not thought through. I'd really like the C1 developer to sit next to me for an hour and see how many little annoyances there are that could be fixed easily.0
