You shut me down without warning!!!!
I love C1Pro. I'll start out by saying that.
But you guys may have just lost a 13 year customer because you shut me down. Without warning.
I went to upgrade to v.12, and it wouldn't let me activate. It said I didn't have any more upgrades according to my purchase (in 2005). Apparently you audited my license and noticed that. It was YOUR mistake. NOT MINE!
I've had your software upgraded for free since v.3. I understand I got one heck of a deal. And if you had contacted me and let me know of YOUR mistake, I would have graciously bought a new license. But you DID NOT contact me. I had to find out the hard way.
Instead I had to attempt to activate v.12 without success, and contact support to find out why.
And when I went back to v.11 to continue working on my current jobs, it was closed out, and it won't let me re-activate.
You are now holding my work hostage.
Again, this is 100% YOUR MISTAKE. NOT MINE!!!
It's the most unprofessional action I've even seen in my 30 years of being a commercial photographer. I teach photography as well now and highly recommend this software to my students.
I'm now at a loss what to do. Continue to suggest it, or tell them to use LR from now on.
I understand mistakes, we all make them. It's not mistakes that define a company. It's how they're handled.
And so far, this is a piss poor job of handling a mistake.

what goes around comes around...
Using (knowingly or not - does not matter) P1's software mistake (whatever let u used paid versions w/o paying - one can assume that you are not talking about the always free version for P1 own backs) does not entitle you to complain when P1 finally fixed that mistake (which resulted in totally legit deactivation of your license(s)).
I'd say - good riddance.0 -
Just buy a new license and be incredibly grateful for all those years you got to use this program for free. 0 -
Show some decency and be grateful for using the software for free for 13 years. You have no right to complain here.
Purchase the license as you should have done in the past. You still get an incredible bargain in terms of yearly cost.0 -
To all of you saying I have no right to complain, shut up!
I said I would be more than happy to buy a new license. That's not the friggin' issue.
The issue is that they shut me down without warning. After finding a mistake that THEY made.
How would you like it if they did that to you?
And by the way, I was told at the time I bought the software that I had 100 upgrade and/or activations. Apparently that wasn't true.
So all of you who say I have no right to complain can go pound sand. Each and every one of you blaming me for complaining are clueless to the issue.
Yes, I had 13 years of using the software. But that was THEIR mistake, not mine. They audited the license, and shut me down without so much as a simple notification that my license was not valid.
That's a crap way to do business, and none of you seem to understand why that sucks. I hope it never happens to you.0 -
Capture One please fix this for Vic.
I really like CO I hope they resolve this, it was working with you on the Ulta shot that I saw how well CO works and chose it over other photo programs. IE: you should have your own discount code for as many folks as you’ve inspired Vic.

First all, no reason to attack posters.
Did you say you were told you would have 100 free upgrades activations? In the 13 year time, how many computers have you owned? How many OS upgrades? Have you put this software with this license on more than one computer at a time?
If you would have said you were told you would have 100 free activations / installations then it would have saved a lot of comments.
Open a ticket with Phase One and a have them show you the activation history for your license.
This is something they should fix, and if they cant prove you have had 100 activations then you correct. I see your frustration that it even locked you out of CO 11.0 -

So did Phase One make a mistake and accidentally give you free upgrades for 13 years, or did you purchase a license that had 100 upgrades/activation? I don't see how both could be true.
And you have every right to complain, you're just doing it in an incredibly entitled way.0 -
Update.
Phase graciously re-activated my version 11 with my current key. And I've purchase version 12, and look forward to learning more about the new features.
This is all I wanted to begin with. My complaint was never about not being able to upgrade. My complaint was SOLELY about them shutting down my Version 11 with no forewarning.
For those of you who say I have reason to complain, how would you like it if a company shut down your software without warning? The only saving grace is that I was not in the middle of shoot at the time.
And I only went this route because I was not getting not getting an answer from my support ticket. This was a last resort. There is nothing entitled about it. I had images I couldn't work on. I needed an answer immediately. This forum was the best way for me to get that done.
Apparently it did.
Ulf was kind enough to address my support ticket and get me taken care of.0 -

Apparently this was promised by my salesman at the time I bought my first PhaseOne System. That company is no longer in business, so it's moot.
To be clear, there is no such thing as a 100 activation or 100 free update license. It was a lie from the company I bought my Phase through, and NOT PhaseOne's fault.0 -

Wow a salesman lying... To get a sale... I have never heard of that before . 😊
What people will do and say to make a sale.
Glad to hear you got back into CO 11 and now have CO 12.0 -
I'd go a bit more quietly in case they ask for back payments....
Half your luck.0 -

Your first post lacked this complete detail.
I thought you were mad for getting your licensed caught and deactivated when Phase realized the 100 activation error while you also didn't tell them about this error and took advantage of it.
That is what I and probably the first few replies also thought until reading your quoted post.0 -
If you were/are using Phase One cameras then the Free DB version of the code would perhaps justify what the sales person said. But only for the Phase family RAW files, not RAWs from other manufacturers.
Also the Express version maybe although at the back of my mind is a recollection that it was not entirely free in the earlier, pre -Sony special versions.
I suspect that you were under the radar somehow but I get the impression that the licensing system has been re-vamped and further automated and that maybe why things changed for you. It could be that no one knew to contact you to warn you because no one thought there would be any situations like yours in the system?0 -
I had the same thing upgrading from v11 to v12.
My v11 license became unusable.
I contacted support and received a working license the same day.
Did you try this too?
Again, big thumbs up for Phase One, of course I was not amused by the surprise but the solution was as you'd hope to get...0
