This problem has already be reported multiple times and we are still waiting for a fix. There should be an external editing configurator like in Lightroom. Maybe in version 10.

    I have posted this earlier...
The following workaround works for me (Windows 10):
    1. Locate a .tif file in Windows Explorer
    2. Right-click the .tif file and select 'Open with...'
    3. Select 'Choose another app' from the context menu
    4. Remove the check box 'Always use this app...'
    5. Scroll down and click 'More apps'
    6. Scroll down and click 'Choose a different app on this computer'
    7. Browse to e.g. Programs -> Google -> Nik Collection ->the program you want to use -> ...(64-Bit) ->the program you want to use
This will open the .tif file in the NIK program. Next time you use C1, the program will be available in the drop-down box.

I use a Mac, and I find that Affinity does come up in the list. If your are on Windows, is it anything to do with the fact that Affinity Photo for Windows is still in beta?

Not really. CO just 'steals' the 'open with...' list for TIFF files from Windows. So the trick is to adjust that list, which will remember your latest choices.

The problem is that this list is not sticky. First, it seems to have a limited number of entries (I mean, limited by C1 itself). New additions may remove older entries. Also, the information retrieved from Windows may evolve if other applications are added to the Open with... list for TIFF files.

The only good solution is to have an external programs configurator as in any other similar application. Even simple free image viewers as Faststone Image Viewer or XnView allow you to configure external editors. For an application at the price level of C1, it's just a shame that this feature has not been implemented, whereas it's so easy to write such code.
