My usage cannot justify the cost of moving from LE to Pro, but I also am finding the batch limits frustrating.

C1 is indeed the best raw processing software I know of at this time, but the batch limit has me evaluating other options.

I have used all of the others including DPP, BB, Bibble, and PS ARC. I definately like C1 the best. However, I agree that the jump between Le and Pro is very excessive.

With the much enhanced Raw in PS CS2 coming out soon, I think the stand-alone Raw processors like Phase One stand to lose out if they don't keep their prices very reasonable. Plus the new Bridge (browser) in CS2 looks very nice.

I have a feeling that once I get my CS2 updgrade, I will be doing my entire workflow in PS.

Yep. I want to remain a loyal C1 customer, but some of the LE versus Pro issues are becoming significant to me:

    - Small queue.
    - Can't get 12mp out of a Fuji S2 RAF.

This is compounded by very slow Fuji S2 RAF conversions which make me have to leave C1 to process a long time. With a short queue, I'm constantly having to go and come back and wasting time where my PC is doing nothing because I didn't know it had finished (or was sleeping, or...). If the processing were faster, this would probably be less of an issue.

I too am eagerly awaiting for my new (already ordered) CS2 upgrade, however I am not hoping that I drop C1 in favor of it. I'm hoping C1 will come down to a price where it's a reasonable upgrade because I really like the workflow. I'm certainly willing to pay good money for an upgrade, I just think it should be less. I do find myself looking for alternatives, but I really don't want to.

In any case, it's still a damn nice product. I'd hate to see people run to Photoshop CS2 because they've made the alternative difficult.

Fuji S3 IS a 6mp camera which is interpolated up to 12mp in the Fuji software. This you can also do with Capture One, set size in development to 200%, no pun intended but on the other side then you can call Nikon D2x a 24mp if you want to as well, same you have in Photoshop if you develop a RAF file.

I understand the point, but this is something that is up to debate, particularly on the S3. The diagnal layout allows some funky tricks with \"virtual photo sites\" that Fuji and others have taken advantage of (or at least claim to have). Additionally, from my understanding, on the S3 there are actual additional photosites introduced (though generally rather than contributing to the total mp, they contribute to the dynamic range instead).

Most reviews of the camera indicate, yes, the 12mp is a bit of a stretch, but using the \"virtual photosite\" techniques it is a solid 8mp. This is both true of the Fuji S2 and S3. Most people with experience using the HS [SV]2 software seem to indicate that the 12mp images downsampled have more image information than the 6mp by itself. Of course maybe this is self-delusion.

Does this constitute and official Phase One position on Fuji S2/S3 at 12mp? Are you saying that even in Pro if you set to 12mp that this is simply an interpolated 6mp rather than using any virtual photosite techniques as others do (such as Bibble claims to)? This would be good to know for Fuji S2/S3 users who plan to, or already do use the Pro 12mp setting.

    Thanks for the response.
