Every version of CO I've used maintains the aspect ratio after rotating. What ratio is it changing to? That is strange behavior.

    1) Can't say I've ever seen the Aspect Ratio change after it's placed... rotate or not
    2) Shortcut Key's help make rotating a bit more snappy (Option+CMND+L, Option+CMND+R)
    3) Everything seems smooth on my MacBook PRO i7

Live is great on Mac Drew, but I suspect the OP is running some sort of Windows...

That's understood, but an i7 is an i7... just providing what I can. The keyboard shortcut fix is applicable as well.

Rotate and crop seem to hold up okay in the Windows version that I use (XP). A work around for me going back to Ver 3, try letting CO create all the previews, then restart the program before doing any rotations/cropping. Hope it helps.
