I would expect this work as it does in Adobe Camera Raw when you set new defaults and make the specific to camera make or serial number. Every image you view with the samer model or serial number will have the user defined defaults applied.

I believe that defaults are only applied on import, as in Lightroom, or when you reset the settings or select apply defaults.

Note item 4 in the link says:

    4. This Default setting will now be applied to every subsequent file from this specific camera make and model.

In Lightroom the defaults are applied just the same as ACR/Bridge. It just so happens all photos MUST be "imported" to a catalog to be view in LR. Though If you modify defaults all images in the catalog are updated accordingly when viewed.

As stated I read Item 4 in the link to work the same ACR and LR do. But I guess this isn't the case and is very unfortunate. It needs some clarity brought to it. It only makes sense that once a default setting is established all images viewed should be under those defaults and not have to click "apply" in every modified tool for each image. They are the new defaults, not all settings at 0. There is no "apply all defaults" to my knowledge.

I tried importing images into a C1 catalog and the defaults are not applying to the newly imported images that didn't exist in the catalog. All images are from the same Fuji Xpro2 body that had the defaults created for it. User styles are all that could be applied to during and import and that isn't what I want. So this feature must be broken or not work at all as intended. Or, only work during tethered capture when "Next Capture Adjustments" is set to defaults rather than "Copy From Last"

The only work around is once images are in a folder, before any further adjustments, select one image, apply defaults in all tools then copy and apply adjustments to all. This is very clunky and not at all how it should be implemented. I typically work in C1 Sessions though I do have a Catalog made for each year of images. I just want this simple thing to take place as it has always done in my years of use with ACR/Bridge and LR. I've transitioned my entire workflow to C1pro this year and no longer use it solely for tethered capture which it obviously excels at.
