effect of CC slider - global?

Hey - just wondering whether the CC slider works across all tones of the image, or compresses only the highlights/shadows (more like "clipping", I guess you'd say). For instance, if I sampled a "zone 6" tone and started pushing the CC, would it be affected - or does it only affect the top and bottom ends without altering the middle?

  good question I guess shooting a Kodak separation grey bar will tell you.
